Health and special interest events are scheduled for the convenience of the seniors of the DeKalb Community. The schedules can be viewed monthly in our Senior Moments newsletter. Call the DeKalb Center for information on any event at (815) 758.4718.
A wide variety of activities are offered at each Center providing many social and hobby opportunities. Click here for weekly schedules for each site - Cortland, DeKalb, Genoa, Malta and Sycamore. If you don't see an activity of interest - just ask. You will find friends to join.
Puzzles, newspapers, new magazines, computer access, board games and anagram word challenges are available at each site during all business hours.
Peer Mentoring Program:
This program is a support service for older adults who are lonely, homebound or facing issues of personal loss. Volunteers, aged 55 or older, participate in a training program that includes information on a range of issues unique to the aging population. After completing the 2-session training, the volunteers visit and provide companionship for those identified as needing this service. Periodic meetings and frequent communication with the volunteers gives them the support needed to provide this extremely valuable service to our community.
Please call 815-758-4718 to participate as a volunteer.
The Senior Services Centers are designated warming/cooling locations and are open to all members of the community during business hours.
